Heera Lal Vimal is a highly accomplished Mining Survey Professional with over 35 years of extensive experience in underground and opencast mine surveying. Throughout his distinguished career with Hindustan Zinc Limited (Vedanta Resources), he has contributed to some of India’s most technically demanding mining projects, delivering exceptional standards of accuracy, safety, and operational excellence.
He holds an Unrestricted Survey Competency Certificate issued by the Director General of Mines Safety (DGMS), Directorate, Dhanbad, India, demonstrating the highest level of professional competence and authorization in mine surveying.
His expertise covers every aspect of mining surveys, including underground mine development, opencast mine surveying, shaft and decline alignment, topographic surveys, engineering surveys, volume calculations, mine planning support, digital mapping, and the use of modern surveying technologies.
Major Professional Achievements
- 35 years of professional experience in underground and opencast mine surveying.
- Holder of the Unrestricted Survey Competency Certificate issued by the Director General of Mines Safety (DGMS), Dhanbad, India.
- Successfully managed survey control for the sinking of a 1,000-metre vertical mine shaft with a 5-metre diameter, ensuring precise alignment and construction accuracy.
- Played a key role in the survey and excavation of a 25-kilometre underground decline, measuring 5 metres in width and 5.0 metres in height, constructed on a 1 in 7 downward gradient.
- Extensive experience in underground mine development, breakthrough surveys, shaft plumbing, tunnel alignment, production surveys, reserve calculations, and deformation monitoring.
- Proficient in modern surveying technologies, including Total Stations, GNSS/GPS systems, Digital Levels, laser-based survey equipment, and advanced mine surveying software.
